Donald W. Hoffman

Don W. Hoffman, 65 of Ashland, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on July 6, 1955 in Ashland, to the late Robert L. and Elizabeth (Copeland) Hoffman.

Don graduated from Ashland High School in 1973. Following graduation, he attended N.C.T.C where he earned an associate’s degree in Industrial Sales and Marketing.

Don was the owner of the Ashland Monument Company, a career which began in 1970. He had a true love and passion for what he did.

Don married the love of his life, Sondra Zimmerman on April 16, 1977.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He provided many great experiences, opportunities and memories for his family and friends during his lifetime. He was always present at his children and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. He especially loved watching his grandkids play traveling and high school soccer.

He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and served on church council, an active member of Y.M.B.C., a 32nd degree Mason, and a past member of the Elks. He loved playing golf and was involved in many leagues, spending time at his home in Fort Myers, Florida and taking drives with his dog Oakley.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sondra Hoffman of Ashland; one daughter, Lindsay (Tony) Martin of Ashland; one son, A.J. (Lindsey) Hoffman of Ashland; and five grandchildren, Braydon and Layne Martin and Julia, Kensley and Maggie Hoffman.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his in-laws, Herb and Kay Zimmerman and his stepfather Eldon Crone.

A private burial will be at the Ashland Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Homeward Bound Dog Shelter, P.O. Box 70, Ashland, Ohio 44805.

So terribly sorry to hear about Don. There are too many wonderful memories of the great times we had in the Thomas Drive neighborhood to pick one. We were blessed to have such a wonderful place for our kids, and at times Lori and Lindsay were inseparable. Don was quite good with all the kids, and often showed much more patience than we moms did! Hoping the memories will bring a smile to you all at this very difficult time.
