James Henry Van Meter, 73 of Ashland and formerly of Nova, passed away Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 at Brethren Care Village.
Jimmy was born in Loudonville, Ohio on July 6, 1947 to the late James R. and Edith (nee Gollehon) Van Meter. He was a graduate of Mapleton High School class of 1966 and earned a bachelor’s degree in music, with a minor in English, from Ashland College in 1970.
Jimmy played piano at the Reed House Restaurant for 19 years, he had also played at Dale-Roy Services and the Pump House Restaurant and taught Piano lessons for 9 years.
He was a member of the Ruggles Church where he played the piano and organ. He enjoyed painting while he lived at Brethren Care village.
He is survived by his Brethren Care family, Ruggles Church family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, December 21, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Chaplain Dean Pierce officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
For those who may not be able to attend the service will be available via Facebook live from the funeral home’s page.
