Leonard F. “Corky” Koenig, 86, of Ashland, Passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

Mr. Koenig was born in Cleveland, Ohio June 17, 1934 to the late Leonard V. and Freda (Simmers) Koenig. He had been a resident of the Ashland area for most of his life.
Leonard had worked at the A.L. Garber Co., Boyer Hardware in Hayesville, contractor Herb Wheeler and Young Brothers Plasters. He retired from General Motors in 1991 after 30 years of service where he worked in the paint department.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
He attended the Hayesville United Methodist Church, was a member and past treasurer of Am-Vets Post 1969 in Hayesville, a former Cub Scout Den Master, coached Little League and served as a Councilman for 8 years, all in Hayesville. He enjoyed doing Sudoku Puzzles.
On February 14, 1960 he was married to Shirley L. (Workman) who preceded him in death on March 8, 2018.
He is survived by a daughter, Trina (Jeffrey) Kitts; two sons, Leonard Scott (Toye) Koenig and David T. Koenig all of Ashland; five grandchildren, Jasmine, Jeanette (Eric) Gramley, Sierra, Leonard “Dewey” Koenig and Courtney (Josiah) Jones; six great grandchildren, Isabella, Simon, Lily, Obadiah, Chloe and Jedidiah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shirley L. Koenig and two sisters, Elsie Cook and Ruth Browning.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 25, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with the Rev. Matt Stollings officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in the Vermillion Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening, November 24, 2020, from 5 to 7 PM.
