Stephen J. Johnson, 70, of Ashland, passed away at his residence, early Sunday morning, October 11, 2020.

Stephen was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 17, 1949 to the late Delbert H. and May (Purcell) Johnson. He grew up in Gahanna and received his bachelor’s degree in Finance from The Ohio State University. He has been a resident of Ashland for the past 30 years, moving here from Mansfield in 1990.
He had worked for Mansfield Plumbing Products as the company Treasurer and Risk Manager for the past 16 years and had previously worked for F.E. Myers/Pentair and the Hydro-Matic Pump Co.
He was past Chair of the Ashland County Democratic Party.
Stephen was an avid runner and finished the first 35 Columbus Marathons, he also enjoyed bike riding.
On July 7, 2012 he married Shannon (Van Horn) who survives him. Also surviving are his stepdaughters, Paige (Justin) Novak of South Lyon, Michigan and Samantha Leininger of Leesburg; two brothers, Rod (Carol) Johnson of Zanesville, OH. and Russell Johnson of Plain City, OH.; nieces, Amanda (Brent) Stark of New Albany and Meredith (Brian) Nash of Gahanna; and a nephew, Brian (Toni) Johnson of St. Louis, IL.
He was predeceased by his parents and an infant brother.
In keeping with Stephens wishes, there will be no calling hours or services observed.
