Lora Constance Logan Abel, 101 of Ashland passed away Monday morning, September 14, 2020 in Brethren Care Village.
She was born on April 2, 1919 in Mentor, Ohio the 10th child out 12 of the late Walter E. and Tressa (nee Melbauer) Logan.
Lora graduated from Mentor High School, Class of 1937 and went on to attend business college following her graduation. She married the love of her life, Robert H. Abel on July 6, 1939.
Lora retired as a school bus driver for Mentor Local Schools. She was a member of Southview Grace Brethren Church. Above all she was a devout Christian whose faith gave her strength in her life. Lora had an impeccable sense of humor. Throughout her many years, she enjoyed playing golf, fishing, the great outdoors, and gardening. Along with her husband, they found a great deal of enjoyment bird watching.
She is survived by her two sons, Doug (Becky) Abel of Ashland and Keith Abel of Snohomish, Washington; four grandchildren, Charles (Kellie) Abel, Eric (Christy) Abel, Mark (Jessica) Abel, and Sarah (Fabian) Ardila; eleven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lora is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Abel who passed away on March 15, 1961; four sons, Robert H., Walter E., Kenneth A. and William Abel; and eleven siblings.
Interment services will be held, Thursday, September 17, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. in the Mentor Cemetery with Pastors Mark and Eric Abel officiating. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. For those who may not be able to attend, the service will be available via Facebook live from the funeral home’s page. The services will also be available for viewing at 12:oo p.m. in the Southview Grace Brethren Church, 810 Katherine Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805 for convenience and for those who may not have an electronic device.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers at Brethren Care Village for their wonderful care they have given to Lora over the last 2 ½ years of her stay.
