James “Kip” Kiste, 70, of Ashland, passed away Sunday morning, August 16, 2020 at Lifecare Hospice in Wooster, following a short illness.

Kip was born in Ashland on April 30, 1950 the son of James and Joyce (McDermott) Kiste. He was a graduate of Ashland High School, class of 1968, and attended Ohio University.
He was co-owner of American Wood Products, and owner of Ashland Wood Products. He then was the sales manager for DH&L Inc. in Wadsworth, and later, sales manager for Tri-M Block of Wooster from which he retired.
Kip was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland where he was leader of the Christian Living Sunday School Class and a member of Trinity Outreach. He was also a member of the Ashland Country Club. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Ashland High School championship Golf team of 1968. He also enjoyed fishing, working in his yard and garden and spending time with his family and his canine companion Freddie.
On August 5, 1972 he was married to Deborah J. Budd and the couple had just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Kiste of Ashland, two daughters, Jennifer (Derek) Woods and their children Emily and Owen of Lexington, OH; Megan (Josh) Gluvna and their children Luke and Madeline of Columbus, OH; his mother, Joyce Ann Kiste of Ashland; a sister Susan (Randy) Emmons of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Rebecca (Roland) Massatti of Ashland and a brother-in-law, Thomas Budd of Ashland.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kevin McClain officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church. The family request that masks be worn for the visitation and services.
