Robert R. Sturgill Jr., 60 of West Salem passed away Friday evening, July 3, 2020 from injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
He was affectionately known my many as Robert, Rob, and Cowboy.
Robert was born April 26, 1960 the son of Robert R. Sturgill Sr. and Avanell (nee Van Gilder) Sturgill in Cleveland, Ohio.
He graduated from Black River High School, Class of 1978. Robert was employed for more than 13 years at Valley Transport where he was a truck driver.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and vacationing. He was an avid mechanic and great outdoorsman. Most of all he was a loving father to his children and dear friend to many who knew him best.
Robert is survived by one son, Robert R. (Angie) Sturgill III of Lexington; two daughters, Tamera (Michael) Flickinger of Ashland and Veronica Sturgill of Ashland; six grandchildren, Gwen, Alexia, Gabriel, Raylee, Elli, and Robbie; three step grandchildren; two sisters, Donna (Tim) Whitenack of Polk and Nelda Sturgill of Beachgrove, Indiana; and two brothers, Mark Sturgill of Hamilton and Paul (Tonia) Sturgill of West Salem.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. by Pastor Barry Whitt. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Following the burial a meal and time of fellowship will be at the Whispering Pine Event Center.
