Sandra Withers Grindle, 84 of Ashland passed away on Wednesday morning, June 17, 2020 in the Kingston of Ashland.
She was born on February 3, 1936 in Port Clinton, Ohio the daughter of the late Thomas V. and Agnes O. (nee Nanna) Withers.
Her family would call Ashland home when Sandy was two years old. She graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1954. She went on to earn an associate degree from Bliss Business College in Columbus two years later in 1956.
Sandy married the love of her life, David E. Grindle on September 15, 1957. She retired after more than 25 years from Ashland City School’s where she was a Library Aide.
She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church where she a member of the Searcher’s Sunday School Class and Chancel Choir. Sandy loved to be involved in the many activities of her family, friends, and community including study club, pinochle club, garden club, Ashland Symphony Orchestra Women’s League and the Salvation Army Board to a name a few. She had a special fondness for the ladies in both her coffee and tennis group that met and enjoyed fellowship together.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, David Grindle of Ashland; one daughter, Susan (Joel) Icenhour of Ashland; one son, Bill Grindle of Columbus; five grandchildren, Daniel (Abbey) Icenhour of Brunswick, Aaron Icenhour of Columbus, Megan Icenhour of Ashland, Tessa (David) Grindle-deGraaf of Columbus and Benjamin Grindle-deGraaf of Columbus; and one great granddaughter, Breonna Icenhour.
In addition to her parents, Sandy is preceded in death by her two sisters, Margaret Withers and Jean Wheeland Cox; and one brother, Thomas M. Withers.
A private funeral service will be on Saturday, June 20, 2020 in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Snyder officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery.
