Cindy had been a resident of Ashland for all her 73 years. Born September 3, 1946 to Lucky & Liz (Campbell) Anders, she was a 1964 Ashland High School graduate.
After graduation Cindy began her long working career at the A.L. Garber Co. until they closed in 2003. She then went on to work at Coburn’s warehouse in Hayesville until her retirement.
On March 3, 1973 Cindy became a mom to Dena (Jackson) Lefever. She selflessly raised, supported and loved her always making sure Dena was able to participate in many activities. Enduring all the horse shows, 4-H, FFA and fair projects. Cindy was an advisor of the Boots & Broomtails 4-H Club for 15 years and held the position of treasurer for the Ashland 4-H Saddle Horse committee. She also was honored as a lifetime member of the Paint & Plain Saddle Club, working the entry booth for many years. Cindy was a 50year member of Ashland Arie FOE #2178. But Cindy was probably most proud of her two grandchildren, Tanner (Kenzie) Adkins of Bellevue, NE. and Reece Adkins of Ashland.
She was the world’s greatest gram! Not only was she a taxi service, homework assignment, music instrument, and sports equipment fail safe for when those things were forgotten, she also gave the best back scratches and no one could ever make a better no bake cookie.
Cindy enjoyed meeting with her classmates from ’64 for breakfast at Buehler’s and her old co-workers from Garber’s for lunch. She hosted the Garber Girls Christmas party for 13 years.
She enjoyed bowling for many years at King Lanes and LuRay, and always looked forward to the Eagles Tournament. For more then 10 years Cindy dog sat out of her home and developed a long list of clients. The dogs were always happy to stay with her, being spoiled, and sad to leave.
It was the simple things in life that Cindy loved, time laughing with friends, going shopping or sitting in the stands of any number of sports or academic programs.
She leaves behind her daughter, Dena (Jackson) Lefever of Ashland, grandchildren, Tanner (Kenzie) Adkins and Reece Adkins; step grandchildren, Tyler (Devan) Lefever and Beau Lefever; nephew Steve (Chris) Nelson and niece Jean Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Bonnie Nelson; twin infant brothers and a nephew, Terry Nelson.
Graveside Services and burial will be held Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vermillion Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Earlenbaugh officiating. Friends of the family are welcome to attend.
