Thelma P. Lechiara, a resident of Brethren Care Village, peacefully passed away at 2:00 am on Dec. 2, 2019.
Thelma was born to Glenn and Myrtle Williams on April 25, 1923, in Graysville, Washington Township, Monroe County, Ohio and resided in Graysville during her childhood and teenage years.
She attended Graysville Elementary school and graduated from Graysville High School. Thelma thoroughly enjoyed attending Graysville High School class reunions until much later in her life.
After her marriage to Glenn Clifford Moose on Nov. 15, 1941 in Woodsfield, Ohio, Thelma and Glenn moved to their new home in Ashland County, Ohio. There they lived and raised two sons until Glenn's death on April 20, 1960. She then worked in the office for the Garber Manufacturing Company, and then as a receptionist for the Ohio Gas Co. until she married Dominic Michael Lechiara on Dec. 27, 1964.
She was married to Dom unitil his death on May 12, 2011. While married to Dominic, she lovingly helped raise her two step-sons and daughter as well as her own sons, and was very successful at her work as an Avon representative and enjoyed visiting with her many clients
While her children were attending high school and active in sports, Thelma was very actively involved with the Mapleton High School Athletics Booster club by helping raise money with Friday night "after game linger longers", where she helped serve snacks and sodas. She was an avid fan of the Ashland College Eagles football team where she enjoyed watching her oldest son play football.
After Thelma and Dominic raised their extended family, she worked in the Admissions Office for Ashland University for several years.
Thelma was an active member of the Nankin Federated Church, Nankin, Ohio, for over 60 years, where she fervently enjoyed serving her Lord, by singing in the choir and actively participating in the Women's Circle associations, as well as teaching Sunday School classes for several years.
She was the most loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed traveling to different parts of the state and country to visit her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her trips with Dominic to Europe and Australia as well. For her hobbies, Thelma spent many hours working in her flower gardens and vegetable gardens while she lived in her home north of Nankin, Ohio. She loved playing golf and spending time with her family. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio State Buckeyes and Ashland University Eagles. She spent many evenings watching golf, basketball and football on her television. She also looked forward to her daily phone calls from her children, family and her many friends.
As well as her parents and husbands, Thelma was preceded in death by her sister Geneva Zoller, and brother-in-laws Albert Zoller and Dunham Hollister.
