Obituary

John David Wiser

John David Wiser, 67, of Winter Park, FL, formerly of Ashland, passed away September 24, 2019 in Florida.
John was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 11, 1952 to the late Merald S. and Marie Winifred (Allen) Wiser. He was a 1970 graduate of Mapleton High School.

To anyone who knew him, John was a friend, he enjoyed life and had a passion for anything on wheels. He used his vast knowledge on historic cars and motorcycles to build a career in the motion picture and television industry that spanned for 30 years. John often provided the featured vehicles seen in many of the movies produced in the last 30 years including such pictures as: Parenthood, Imagine Films; Contact, Warner Bros. Studio; Lethal Weapon, Warner Bros. Studio; Dukes of Hazzard, Warner Bros. Studio; Armageddon, Disney Studio; and all ten Fast and Furious films, Universal Studios; to name a few.

He also helped produce commercials for major companies such as Universal Studios, Nissan, Quake
r State and Texaco etc., as well as designing and fabricating many specialized vehicles for the film and television industry. {see whizzermotors.com/index.html for a more complete list}

His hobbies included collecting and restoring unusual cars, trucks and rare motorcycles and bikes. He was considered an expert in historic restoration for several types of vehicles. Some of his vehicles are considered museum quality.

He is survived by his former wife, Susan (Hileman) of Florida, brother, Bruce (Carrie) Wiser of Ashland, a sister, Cathy Shull of Ashland and many nieces and nephews. He will not only be greatly missed by his family, but also the film industry as he was a person known to get the job done on time and on budget.

John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Dale and James.

A Memorial Service for John will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center St. Ashland, Ohio. The family has requested that relatives and friends dress casually.

I just found out about Johns passing today January 2, 2020. I worked with John on Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift and Fast 5. We quickly became friends as I am a mid-western boy from Paxton, Illinois and an automotive nut as well. He had a great spirit and confidence for anything on wheels. We texted often talked every now and then I will truly miss him! God rest his soul. Matt Rubarts, Burbank, CA

Our condolence to the family of John wiser. Our mother (Lottie Marcy) and your father(Merald Wiser) were brother and sister. We have many fond memories of times spent visiting the family in Ashland. As all of us have grown, married and gone in different directions, it is sad to say, we lose touch. Please know that we are thinking of each of you during this difficult time. Blessings to each of you, Gary and Janet Marcy, Carol (Marcy) and Steve Koivisto, and Alice (Marcy) Bradnan
