Mildred S. “Millie” Kolp, 95 of Ashland passed away Monday, November 4, 2019 in the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on April 7, 1924 in Ashland, the daughter of the late Malcolm Earl and Minnie (nee Buchanon) Snyder.
Millie graduate from Ashland High School, Class of 1942. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Kolp on January 16, 1946 in Seattle, Washington.
Following Ken’s service in the United States Navy, the couple would return to their hometown.
She was a member of Park Street Brethren Church. Millie enjoyed reading, camping, herb gardening, and making crafts. She was especially fond of writing poetry throughout her life. Millie loved to travel. She was also a member of the Kingwood Herb Society, Red Hat Society, and the Perry Township Homemakers.
Millie is survived by one daughter, Sherian (Lee) Shriver of Ashland; two sons, Steve (Corinne) Kolp of Ashland and Gary Kolp of Ashland; five grandchildren; one step grandchild; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Fran (Reverend Bill) Curtis of Tuson, Arizona and Liz (Skip) Boley of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews.
Mildred is preceded in death by her father, Malcolm Earl Snyder; her mother, Minnie (Frank) Schneider; her husband of 44 years, Kenneth Kolp who passed away in February of 1990; a daughter-in-law, Marion “Kim” Kolp in 2013; and two brothers, Wilbur Glen Snyder and George O. Snyder.
Funeral services will be held, Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Messner officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd for the outstanding care they provided for Mildred and the support for the family over the last seven months.
