Lawrence Elton “Larry” Chamberlain, 77, of Ashland, passed away early Friday morning, September 13, 2019 at Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield.

Larry was born April 1, 1942 in Lorain, Ohio and was the son of the late Elton Gibson and Georgene Rhoda (Kick) Chamberlain. He had been a resident of Ashland since his graduation from Ohio Northern University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering in 1964.
Larry worked as an engineer and a surveyor for Ashland County until 1972. He was then elected Ashland County Engineer from 1972 until his retirement in 2000. He served on the State Board of Engineers and the Home Federal Savings & Loan board in Ashland. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge 2178, Moose Lodge 1383 and a lifetime member of the Ashland Elks Lodge 1360. He also enjoyed meeting for coffee with a group of guys affectionately known as the "Liars Club".
Larry enjoyed golfing, gardening and following Ohio State sporting events and the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Anna Lee (Hamilton) Chamberlain who he married on January 15, 1966. He is also survived by two daughters, Amy (John) Caudy of Miamisburg, OH; Julie (Ken) Salmons of Vermilion, OH; five grandchildren, Laurie (Michael) Whipkey, Rebekah (Austin) Wyen, Robert Caudy, Melanie Salmons, Erin Salmons, a great grandson, Gavin Whipkey and his sister, Nancy Chamberlain Taylor of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his niece, Leslie of Michigan.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Kidney Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
