Marian L. “Dina” Ockington, 70, wife of Tom Ockington of Perrysville, Ohio, and formerly of Lakewood, Ohio, died peacefully Friday July 19, 2019 surrounded by her family in the University Hospital’s Samaritan Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 1, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Arturo and Marie (nee Krause) DiNicola, and a graduate of Lakewood High School.
Dina was a homemaker and a proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a certified Master Gardener through the OSU Extension Master Gardener Program and a past member of the Master Gardeners of Cuyahoga County. As an advocate for the environment and animal welfare, she was also an avid bird watcher and cherished her pets; Bella her dog, and Stormy her cat.
Dina is survived by her husband Tom, to whom she was married June 11, 1983; her daughter Sharon of Boardman, Ohio and her son Ron and his wife Ucee of Cleveland; 3 grandchildren: Michael and Thomas of Lakewood, and Alison of Cleveland; 2 great-grandchildren James and Brody of Cleveland; and her brother Arthur of Lakewood. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Richard.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Medina for close friends and family. Invitations will be delivered at a later date.
