Jim was born in Ashland, OH on Oct. 2, 1932 to Howard Marshall Clark and Noreen Mansfield. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD on June 1, 1956. The next day he married Suzanne Gunn (also from Ashland) in St. Andrew’s Chapel at the academy.

Jim’s first assignment was the Worchester which was home-ported in Long Beach, CA. He was assigned to the engineering department for those 2 years aboard the Worchester. He was then sent to Nuclear Power School. His naval career required post graduate schools in Electrical Engineering and Nuclear Weapons where the first dual reactor was completed. In 1967 Jim was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and was deployed to Vietnam.
Jim and Suzy moved to California in 1970 so that Jim could take command of the Combat Systems Department at New South Wales State Emergency Service (NSWSES) in Port Hueneme, CA. They bought a house in Ventura, CA. Jim retired from the Navy in 1976. He entered the real estate business and founded his own firm, Tugboat Realty. He was a member of the Ventura Yacht Club and served as its Commodore in 1992.
Jim died on July 10, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Marshall Clark and Noreen, his brother, Peter Clark in 2007, Jesse Clark who was killed in Vietnam in 1965, and his wife Suzanne (Gunn) Clark in 2012. Jim was a grandson of J. L. Clark and Mary Clark. He was survived by his brother, David E. Clark.
Jim will be given a military burial by the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard in the Ashland Cemetery on July 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
