Russell D. Gordon, 86, of Ashland, passed away Thursday evening July 11, 2019 at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born June 15, 1933 the son of Walter Russell and Besta Mae (Schnegg) Gordon in Armstrongs Mills, Ohio.
He was a graduate of Lodi High School class of 1951.
Russ started his working career as a laborer mixing mud and carrying bricks and blocks,
which led to a career in the masonry business that lasted 50 years. Russ retired in 1996 from the Mansfield Local 40
where he worked out of. When asked what his hobbies were, he said work was his hobby.
He enjoyed working on projects which included his sons.
He was a dedicated supporter of his sons sporting events and his grandchildren’s events, be it local
or across the country he would be there to cheer for them.
He was a 50 year member of the Mansfield local 40 and was also a member of Eagles Lodge 2178 of Ashland.
On September 12, 1954 he was married to Frances “Frannie” Rogers who survives him. Also surviving are two sons, Roger (Dee) Gordon of Ashland and Rusty (Marie) Gordon of Polk; four grandchildren, Kendy (Ken) Miller, Jodi (Mike) Bendick, Courtney Gordon, Marcus (Jessica) Gordon; five great grandchildren, Bryce, Anszley, Paelyn, Nash and Gus and One sister Sally Leidigh of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Richard Paul and Bill Gordon.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with David Ford officiating. Burial will be in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends may call this evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
