Albert L. Zimmerman 83, of Ashland, passed away early Friday morning, May 24, 2019 at the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ashland.

Albert was born in Ashland, Ohio on February 8, 1936 the son of the late Albert L. and Dessie (Dobney) Zimmerman.
He had been a resident of Ashland his entire lifetime. He was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1954 and received his Bachelor’s in Education from Ashland college.
Albert was a 4th & 5th grade teacher in the Hillsdale School system for 33 years and at Perrysville School for four years retiring on June 30, 1996. He also had worked as a Lake Ranger at Pleasant Hill Lake during the summer for five years.
He served in the United States Naval Reserves for 8 years based in Mansfield, Ohio and attained the rank of Yoman 3rd Class.
He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and as Financial Secretary for four years .He was a member of Ashland Masonic Lodge #151 F.&A.M., Ashland Chapter #67 R.& A.M., Ashland Council #128 R.&S.M., Wooster Commandery #48, The Fraternal Order of Eagles #2178 serving as treasurer for 39 years, and a life member of the Ohio Education and National Education Associations.
He enjoyed making stained glass art, and traveling.
On June 24, 1956 Albert married Beverly J. (Henderson), and the couple has celebrated 62 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Beverly of Ashland, daughters, Susan (Jeffrey) Barr of Hayesville and Nancy (Thomas) Meyers of McDonough, GA; granddaughters, Crystal Barr, Deborah Benner, Sarah Meyers and Rachel Meyers and a great-granddaughter, Rylee Grace Dillinger.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church with Pastor Rich Pate officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. at First Christian Church. Following the funeral service, Ashland Eagles Lodge #2178 will conduct a memorial service at the church. There will also be a meal and time of sharing before the procession to the cemetery.
