Obituary

Janice A. Allen, 92

ASHLAND – Janice Ann (Fulton) Allen died of natural causes on January 21, 2019, at the Martin House in Ashland, Ohio.

She was born May 23, 1926 to parents Clayton and Beatrice (Kratzer) Fulton in Wadsworth, OH, and graduated from Seville High School in 1944. She married Richard Harold Allen on November 28, 1946 in Seville. He preceded her in death, February 4, 1998. In addition to her husband, Janice was preceded in death by her parents and beloved brother Gene.

Janice was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and before that the Acme Lutheran Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. True to an upbringing on the family farm she never lost her passion for watching things grow and enjoyed preparing, preserving, and serving fresh fruits and vegetables. In particular, the children and grandchildren looked forward to multiple batches of homemade applesauce every fall. She also had a special talent for fine embroidery and all who knew her were gifted with various pieces that will become more cherished as time passes.

Janice is survived by her loving sister Linda Corp (Ray), a daughter, Jody Krinov (Tom), and three sons, Greg (Jan), Mark, and Chris (Linda). She is also survived by six granddaughters, two grandsons, two great grandsons, two great granddaughters, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland with Reverend Michael Koch officiating. Friends may visit with family at the church one hour prior to the service. A lunch at the church will follow. A private service for immediate family at the gravesite will be scheduled at a later date.

Janice supported many charitable organizations over the years and had great empathy for others less fortunate. It would have delighted her to know all would support a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.

For those who may not be able to attend, online condolences may be shared on the funeral home’s website at denbowfh.com.

Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.

We were so saddened to hear about our dear friend, Janice. Remember going to Ashland to see her and Dick. Once she made us a delicious peanut butter pie, which we will forever remember. Looked forward to corresponding with her, especially at Christmas time. She will certainly be missed. Many condolences to all of the Allen family. Janice will certainly light up Heaven.

Our love, David and Lynn Riber

Chris, Jody, Mark, & Greg Families, It's been a long time since we have had contact with any of you, even your mother. We are so sorry for your families loss of your mother. She was quite a woman and cousin. We didn't find out about her loss until last night, so sorry we missed the funeral. As a child I remember visiting your parents in the home on Acme Road, many moons ago. God Bless your families in this time of loss, and again sorry we missed the funeral. Love to all, cousins Timmy, Linda Kratzer, Karen, Jon Tobias, and Pam Kratzer

To Janice Allen's family-
I am very sorry for your loss of my dear friend. I met Janice in 1979 when we .moved down the street from her and Dick. My husband Dave and Dick both worked at Packaging Corporation of America. We were in Welcome Wagon together and neighbors. When I had my first baby, I ask Janice if she could babysit for me during the school year since I was a teacher. Kristine was the first child that she took care of in Ashland. We remained friends even though my husband and I moved to North Carolina and Florida. Janice would take the time every Christmas to write detail letters of everything that was happening in Ashland. She even sent me articles of certain events throughout the years that were of interest to me. She was such a lovely person to think of us. She even embroidered a gift for Kristine's wedding! So kind and thoughtful Janice was all her life. My prayers and condolences are with you all. My deepest sympathy for a beautiful lady.

Janice and Dick used to watch me when I was a baby, about 30 years ago. I reached out to her a couple years ago to check in with her, she remembered all of the things we used to do when we were kids. What an amazing lady! Her family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers!
